06 Types of questions asked in an Assistant Town Planner Interview | Based on JPSC’s ATP Interview

The Jharkhand Public Service Commission interviewed 314 students in January 2020 for 77 posts (45 posts for candidates with Jharkhand’s domicile and 32 Posts for the open category) of Assistant Town Planner.

The interview was scheduled for 3 days with an equal number of candidates distributed each day. A day before the interview was allotted for document verification where 2 sets of self-attested photocopies of the required documents were to be submitted.

The documents included:

● 10th and 12th Mark sheet and Certificate,
● B.Tech/B.Plan/B.Arch Mark sheets and Certificate,
● M.Plan Mark sheets and Certificate,
● ITPI Membership,
● Domicile Certificate where required,
● NOC where applicable,
● Category certificate where required, and
● Aadhar Card.

The interview and the document verification were scheduled in 2 halves for the day, the first slot was from 10 am to 1 pm, and the second slot from 2 pm to 5 pm. The candidates were given a token slip for the interview call on their specific slot and date.

As per the token number the candidates were called for the interview. On receiving the call as per token, the candidates were asked to wait for 15 mins to 30 mins before the interview. There were 4-panels each with 3-panel members consisting of an Urban Planner, an Academician, and a Government Official from JPSC.

The JPSC’s Assistant Town Planner Interview was based on 06 types of questions:

Type 1:

Based on the subjects of Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Housing Planning, Environmental Planning, and Transportation Planning

• URDPFI ( Census Town, Statutory Town, Land use distribution, Classification of Cities, Types of Development plan and scale, preparation of development plan, revenue system, PPP model, Taxation, Land Acquisition, Land Pooling, Norms on social and physical infrastructure requirements for specific population)
• NBC (Habitable room norms, recreation area norms, fire regulations, services)
• EIA, Check for Pollution Control
• UTTIPEC
• Land Reforms and Development
• Municipal Finance
• Urban Governance

• Acts, Policies and Schemes (PMAY, AMRUT, JNNURM, RAY, NULM, NUHM, HRIDAY, SMART CITIES MISSION, NERUDP, Swachh Bharat Mission, Street Vendor Act, Land Acquisition Act, Land Ceiling Act, Municipal Act, Town and Country Planning Act)
• Revenue Generation for development projects
• Development Plan preparation
• Population and Urbanization rate
