Program Overview for Sustainable Cities and Transport

About your role:

WRI India is supporting The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD), Transport department under Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety to reduce fatalities and injuries from road traffic crashes & Public Works Department (PWD) Streetscaping of 540 km of roads greater than (100 ft wide).

WRI, India is looking for a candidate to join our Road Safety & Urban Transport team to be based in Delhi. The individual will assist the team in street design/neighborhood planning and road safety projects in Delhi & other cities through provision of safe infrastructure, capacity building, community awareness programs, workshops, analysis, project-related data, documentation, Planning and Design, coordination between different stakeholders in the implementation of the projects. The successful candidate will work closely with his/her supervisor.

How you day will unfold:
The candidate will undertake and oversee specific responsibilities as are listed below.
• The candidate should have 0 to 2 years of work experience and is expected to have adequate understanding of Street design principles & Guidelines.
• Document and Coordination with Transport department, PWD, Traffic Police, Consultants, and other government offices/departments related to the projects.
• Assist in Reviewing and analyzing data received by PWD, Transport department.
• Support in organizing events, workshops, webinars, street audits, Tactical Urbanism interventions etc.
• Provide research-related support to other team members in Sustainable Cities and Transport.
• Coordinate / follow-up with internal and external partners for formulating reports/ summaries.
• Assist in primary data collection, Site visits, compilation, analysis, and visualization.
• Design and develop schematics and details for illustration and presentation.
• Preparation of necessary drawings, reports, presentations, graphics, etc.
• Assist the team in the timely delivery of activities as outlined in the project.

Qualifications and Requirements we seek:
• The candidate should have 0 to 2 years of work experience and is expected to have adequate understanding of Street design principles & Guidelines.
•  Bachelors’ Degree in Architecture or Planning/Master’s degree in the field of transport planning, Landscape design, Urban planning, and Urban design.
• Proficiency in English and Hindi is a must. (Reading and Writing).
• Clear ways of communicating research ideas.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data from various primary and secondary sources.
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD, Sketchup is a must.
• Working knowledge of Adobe suite and GIS is preferred.
• General awareness of road safety, the street design will be preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as the ability to collaborate with other stakeholders on deliverables.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.

We are looking for candidates who are resourceful, able to work independently, well-organized and detail oriented. Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams at the intersection of research and policy, or engaging with development organizations, officials and policy processes will be an asset.

Location: Delhi, India

Duration: 1 year, with possibility of extension based on performance

Salary and Benefits: 6,50,000 INR CTC 

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
