Senior Program Associate – Electric Mobility, Just Transition

About your role:

The Electric Mobility team supports Indian cities in their journey to be low carbon through applied research, tools, hands-on advice, and by tapping our network of Indian and International experts. Making the move to electric mobility requires a carefully planned strategy that envisions the merging of the transportation and energy sectors and re-envisions relationships between people and vehicles.

WRI India seeks a motivated Senior Program Associate to provide support on research, analysis and stakeholder engagement for a project on enabling an equitable and inclusive EV transition for Maharashtra’s automotive manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Project Manager in conducting primary and secondary research on the ongoing transition from internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEV) to electric vehicles (EV) in the Indian automotive sector and specifically in Maharashtra.
Engage with a wide range of stakeholders in Maharashtra, including automotive industry stakeholders, industry associations, skilling agencies and local & state government representatives for communicating about ongoing initiatives, collecting primary data, seeking collaborations and undertaking joint initiatives.
Organize, review, and summarize relevant literature and data from multiple sources, under the guidance of the Project lead and team.
Synthesize recommendations into clear and compelling presentations and written reports.
Produce project-related presentations, commentaries, blogs and op-eds, reports, policy briefs, grant proposals, working papers and articles to disseminate research and analysis, independently and in collaboration with team members.
Present insights/ findings on behalf of WRI India at relevant multi-stakeholder forums.
Conceptualize and conduct related events and capacity building activities required for the project, in collaboration with the team and Project lead.
Design and create innovative problem-solving approaches to effectively address key questions and challenges posed by our research goals and program objectives.
Contribute and engage with WRI’s research community in India and globally.

Skills and Qualifications we seek:

Education: A Master’s or higher degree in sustainable transportation, public policy, climate policy, urban or transport planning, environmental studies or related fields.
Experience: 4-7 years of work experience in sustainable development research, with at least two years of experience in liaising with government and industry stakeholders.
Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
Strong communication skills and language proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking skills) in English, Hindi and Marathi.
Good working knowledge of sustainable mobility domain, electric vehicle segment, automotive sector and energy transition.
Excellent research, analytical writing and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team.
Prior experience in sustainable mobility and/or in Maharashtra’s automotive sector is a bonus

Location: Pune, India

Salary and Benefits: INR 11,00,000 to INR 13,00,000 CTC

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
