  • Transportation/traffic engineering/planning
  • Transit analysis and design
  • Conceptual transportation design
  • Transportation policy analysis, including policy analysis
  • Transportation data analysis and visualization
  • Focus on transportation equity, carbon neutrality and resiliency

Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:    

  • Conducting background research on specific locations, strategies, or policies
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Completing and documenting technical analyses
  • Report writing
  • Performing analyses using a variety of tools including Excel, PowerBI, GIS, R, FME and (depending on the project) more detailed tools such as Massmotion, SYNCHRO, Vissim, HASTUS, and Remix.
  • Attending team, consultant and client meetings
  • Presentations
  • Working with people from other disciplines to gain knowledge on new subjects.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Data Sciences, or closely related discipline required
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Some work experience in the transportation planning industry either through research applications or internships
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and the challenges and opportunities in the region regards transport and access
  • Emerging project management skills and ability to provide examples
  • Understanding of the nexus between data science and analysis, transport planning principles and urban resiliency
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future.

Preferred: 

  • Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Transportation Engineering or related field
  • Internship with transportation consulting firm or major transportation agency
