Position Overview:

About the University:

CEPT University, established in 1962, is focused on understanding, designing, planning, constructing, and managing human habitat. Its teaching programs are designed to build thoughtful professionals and its research programs aim to deepen the understanding of human habitat. CEPT University also undertakes advisory projects to further the goal of making habitats more livable. Faculties at the University function as a collaborative of full-time faculty members and highly engaged practitioners who share teaching and institutional responsibilities.

About the Position:

The Faculty of Planning focused on planning in the public realm was established in 1972. CEPT University and more particularly Faculty of Planning are engaged in educating professionals equipped for urban transformation.

CEPT University invites applications for Assistant Professor (Full time or Adjunct – for candidates engaged in practice or with other commitments running parallel) positions in the Faculty of Planning as per the area of teaching / research specialization. The position is suited for academics, researchers and practicing professionals who are keen to seriously engage with teaching and research at CEPT.

Positions are open in the following areas of teaching / research specialization:

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. All faculty members at CEPT University will be engaged in a combination of Teaching, Research and Institutional work.
2. To make a distinguished contribution to teaching, continually improving academic standards and adopting cutting-edge curricula and pedagogic practices.
3. To provide leadership in curriculum development through continuous improvement and innovate in the design, articulation and delivery of courses
4. To contribute to the collegial environment at the University and to further its mission in the pursuit of excellence.
5. To advance student learning and student success based on outcomes outlined in the curricula. 
6. To encourage student participation based on cross-project collaboration between batches of students and faculty.
7. To give feedback in reviews, outcomes of various kinds of scales.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for positions:

Expertise Required: 

• Should demonstrate core competency in the area of specialization (Urban Planning, Urban Housing, Urban Infrastructure, Urban Transport Systems, Urban Design)
• Excellent teaching and research skills, and an ability to integrate the new methods of teaching and mentoring with an on-going pedagogy.
• Should have excellent communication, presentation and technical skills relevant for the area of the program.
• In addition to technical capabilities, expertise in developing a critical understanding of the scope of the profession.
• Should be fluent in English.
• Demonstrated ability of integrating professional best practices in teaching.
• Candidates applying for the position of Assistant Professor of Master’s in Urban Infrastructure Programs
  • Should have in-depth professional and/or teaching experience in Infrastructure Planning and Projects Development, Infrastructure Finance, Resilient and Smart Infrastructure, Sanitation and Public Health, Infrastructure Technology Innovations, Community participation in Infrastructure, application of IT in Urban Infrastructure.
• Candidates applying for the position of Assistant Professor of Master’s in Urban Planning Programs
  • Should have in-depth professional and/or teaching experience in preparing statutory plans including Development Plans, Local Area Plans, Town Planning Schemes, Land Pooling Schemes.
  • Should have excellent technical skills in using GIS, AutoCAD, Sketchup, MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint and working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, to be able to teach their use for planning purposes
